The Citroen C-Zero is the first real venture into the new electric car market by the French giant although it is actually a joint venture with Mitsubishi motors. Using a lot of the technology available in the Mitsubishi MiEV, although on a smaller scale, it is believed that Citroen is now looking to rollout a new range of electric cars that will complement the existing Mitsubishi range.
Citroën had already tried to produce an electric car in the 1990s; it was a variation of the Citroën Saxo which proved too expensive because the cost of batteries and had limited range, so this initiative did not go beyond the experimental stage (only 5,500 units were sold).
From the 10th November, via www.c-zero.citroen.com, prospective customers who are interested in being one of the first to own a Citroen C-Zero, will be able to request an exclusive test-drive prior to placing a pre-order.
