The Porsche 911 Black Edition offer the core 911 principles of distinctive design with inner strength; with a high level of specification that emphasises the iconic styling of the car and enhances the interior, while retaining the authentic sporting character of the driving experience.

The Cayman was born

To some, the Cayman is simply a Porsche Boxster with a slightly more convenient hard-top. This is simply not the case.

Although the Porsche Cayman shares the same mid-engine arrangement as the Gen 2 Boxter, in 2006 the engine head was replaced with the 3.6 litre head from the Carrera, allowing the use of the Vario-Cam system, also seen in the 911. The engine itself has had an upgrade from a 3.2 litre, to a new, more powerful version displaced at 3.4 litres.

On first glance.

The body of the Cayman is very similar to the Boxster, with an obvious difference being the hard-top roof. The Cayman also borrowed body parts such as the doors, fenders and trunk lid from the Boxster. The dash is also identical. But as the saying goes, "never judge a book by its cover", this could not be more applicable when talking about the Porsche Cayman.

Let's take a look at the set-up.

With the Cayman now having a hard-top roof, this gave the engineers the option to stiffen the suspension system for better road handling. With that in mind, the engine now boasts another 15 more horsepower than the Boxster S, with the manual version giving speeds of 0-62 in just 5.4 seconds. These factors have greatly increased the overall performance of the Cayman that has an engine output of 295 horsepower, with torque reaching 251lb at 6,250 rpm. With the Boxster reaching a top speed of 167mph, the Cayman takes you to its limit at 171mph.

Another feature that makes the Cayman a huge improvement over the Boxster is its rigidity. Lower springs and strut-stop springs, coupled with larger roll bars gives an overall rigidity increase of 150% over the Boxster S. The Cayman also comes with an active spoiler for extra-down force. This spoiler will activate at speeds of 75 miles and over.

After the 911 Carrera Black Edition, Porsche today announced that it is launching a similar limited run version of the Boxster S as well. The new model will be produced in just 987 units, and aside from the upgrades in the styling and equipment departments, the Boxster S Black Edition also benefits from a small power boost.

As one would expect, almost every part of the body is finished in black, including the model lettering, mirror housings, rollover bars, air intake grilles and twin tailpipes. Black 19-inch wheels, shod in tires size 235/35 at the front and 265/35 at the rear, complete the exterior changes.

The Porsche Cayenne concept was announced in 1998 and came into production in 2002. It was the first large family-type vehicle that Porsche had made after having a long history of just producing roadsters and sports cars. The Cayenne was co-developed with Volkswagen, who was keen to add a sports utility vehicle to their extensive line-up as a cost-sharing initiative. In terms of design, the Cayenne has many similarities to the VW Touareg and the Audi Q7

Sticking to the road is made easier with the combination of active suspension management with adaptive air suspension and dynamic chassis control to keep the 76 inch wide vehicle sticking to the road better and enabling higher cornering speeds. Using the Sports button allows you to select whether you want either comfort or a more sports orientated performance. Using this button alters the engine mapping to give a shaper and much more direct response. The sports button also connects with the above suspension and chassis controls to deliver harder damping and more direct steering.

All forms of the Porsche Panamera also come with active aerodynamics in the form of a rear wing spoiler. When the Panamera is stopped or is driving at low speed, the rear spoiler sits flat under the rear window, keeping a pure aerodynamic form. In fact is you was not aware of this, you would not assume that it had a spoiler. When the car gets up to speed, the spoiler automatically lifts up out of it's compartment and continues to raise or lower depending on the speed being done.

2011 The Porsche Panamera has been highly anticipated

Porsche have been one of the front runners for two door sports car production for over 60 years, and in recent years they have also looked into other target markets. Their first foray was into the 4 wheel drive market with the coveted Porsche Cayenne, which has proved a huge success sales wise. The Cayenne launched in December of 2002 and immediately started selling well. I had to look twice at the badging of a 4 wheel drive some years ago, as a Porsche badged 4 wheel drive looked oddly out of place for me having only seen the badging on cars such as the 911 or the Boxster.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FoXyvaPSnVk/TTi5kitCBQI/AAAAAAAD3jM/emwnEdkdjlw/s1600/Edo%2BMoby%2BDick_11.JPG
The 4 door sedan base model weighs in at 1770 kilograms and comes at a price tag of US $89,000 meaning that only the very well heeled will be able to afford parking one in their garage. The car, as you would imagine, is feature packed from the PDK dual clutch gearbox that allows you to either use the gear stick, change from the steering wheel, or let the car change itself.

This car used the first ever 'Sport Chrono Package Turbo', which is optional extra. This automatically determines the best distribution of torque in order to get the most appropriate drive given the road conditions. With the Porsche Traction Management, it is possible to give a variable distribution of power to the drive axles. The Porsche 911 Turbo can therefore exhibit good traction in different road and weather conditions. This combination makes the car very safe even at high speeds whether the road is wide or narrow.

Both Black Editions are painted in plain black as standard, with Basalt Black metallic available as an option, while the folding hood of the Cabriolet model is trimmed in black cloth. Other styling highlights include the 19-inch 911 Turbo II forged alloy wheels with a glossy black trim and the black-finished, four-piston aluminium monobloc fixed brake callipers.

Inside, the driver and passenger are first greeted by the black lettering on the stainless steel door entry guards. The cars also get a black leather interior, a SportDesign steering wheel and a numbered plaque on the glove compartment lid, while the decorative fascia strip, gear lever and air vents are all finished in aluminium-look paint. Finally, the rear center console is painted in the exterior color.

Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Since it's unveiling in 1963, the 911 has gone through many transformations and with the advent of newer and most advanced technology, the modifications are still going on. The 911 range can broadly be classified into two on the basis of the cooling technology used in them. They are -

Let's look at some pros and cons of the different 911 models:

1- It has been mentioned that are problems with the pistons.
2- There is an issue with anti flood system.
3- There are problems with the seals for the engine oil.
4- There have been complaints with the transmission not working properly when you change gears.

Interestingly, the car that we today know as the 911 was initially named the 901 (901 being its internal project number). However, the rival company Peugeot objected to the name on the ground that they had an exclusive right to name cars with three digits and the middle digit being 0. Although these rights were only valid in France, Porsche renamed the line of cars to 911 to avoid any complications. Thus was the name for one of the most popular automobiles in history selected; as a compromise.

I could not find any reports on safety crash tests done on either the GT2 or GT3. The Porsche 911 family are very expensive cars even if you buy second hand; they seem to hold their value for a long time. They are also an expensive car to maintain so if you do decide to buy one used don't be shocked when the mechanic gives you the bill.

The second Porsche supercar was the 911 GT1, which was based on a heavily modified 993 platform. Like the 959, it was produced and made available to the public for homologation purposes so that it could be raced by Porsche at Le Mans. The 911 GT1 was produced from 1996-1999. It has a water cooled twin-turbo flat-six engine that produced 700 bhp. With a 2400lb curb weight, the 911 GT1 was extremely fast. It had a 0-62 time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 235 mph.

Porsche Carrera GT
Still locked in the competitive war with Ferrari, the Carrera GT is available for a mere $440,000 while the comparable Ferrari, the Ferrari Enzo, runs about $200,000 more. Canadians will pay closer to $550,000 for the Carrera GT.

Porsche's first two supercars were produced to satisfy FIA homologation standards. This required that 200 road legal cars had to be made and sold to the public in order for the car to qualify for racing in FIA sanctioned races. The first car was the 959 which was introduced in 1986. Looking like a heavily modified 964, the 959 however was so much more. It sported a 2.8L twin-sequential-turbocharged flat-six engine that put out 444 HP. This was put to the ground with an innovative 4-wheel drive system. A first for Porsche, which worked so well, a similar system was later adapted for use on the 993 turbo, and has been a staple of Porsche's 911 turbo models ever since. In its day, the 959 was actually the fastest production car in the world, with a top speed of 200 mph and a 0-62 time of 3.7 sec. Impressive even today. The 959 continued in production through 1989.

The 2006 Carrera GT has become the new legend of super car technology, design, styling, and driver enticing performance. Production was stopped short due to the pressing desire to return resources to the Cayenne, and the simple rarity of this super car adds to its desirability. Porsche has long held the philosophy that when concentrating on the essentials the creation surpasses expectation, and of course the Carrera GT is no exception to this time tested rule.

The Porsche Cayenne is a large SUV (sports utility vehicle) from German car manufacturer, Porsche. It is available with a choice of petrol engines and has five seats, five doors and four-wheel drive. The Cayenne is available with both manual and automatic (tiptronic) gearboxes. Its four-wheel system can send 100 per cent of the engine's power, in any mix, between the front and rear axles. A low-range gearbox is also standard.

One of the most noticeable changes is the drive. In earlier models, the critics were right, Porsche's SUVs were heavy and didn't have the smooth drive that Porsche owners covet. But they have learned a lot since their first trial in 2003, and have even gone leaps and bounds from last year's model.
