More recently, several buyers for Saab have stepped forward, with one company - Koenigsegg AB - gaining GM's favor and winning the right to purchase Saab. Koenigsegg is a builder of custom made sports cars, one million dollar models for the uber-rich.

Current models of Saab 9-3 and 9-5 are made in several countries including Germany and Sweden. The 9-7X SUV is being manufactured in Ohio but sales have been abysmal. Saab even tried to manufacture the Saab 9-2X in Japan but failed to compete with Japanese automakers and was discontinued.
