0 comments Posted by SAPU JAGAT at 10:59 PMThe all new 2008 LR2 is going to be offered in the US for a base price of US$34,700.The second generation Freelander was derived from the Ford EUCD platform which in turn was taken from the Ford C1 platform. The EUCD platform was also used on the new Ford Galaxy, Ford S-Max and for Volvo S80 and for other upcoming lines of Volvo and Ford vehicles. New engine range will also be offered for the Freelander featuring transversely mounted 3.2 I6 engine of the Volvo S16 series which has made its debut in the new Volvo S80. The 2.2 DW12 common rail turbodiesel engine was also co-developed by Ford and PSA is expected to be equipped on the Freelander.
The Land Rover Freelander 2 is also expected to be manufactured alongside the Jaguar X-Type at Halewood near Liverpool. And unlike previous Land Rovers the new Freelander will have features such as better ground clearance and greater off-road capabilities.

The Land Rover has become a respectable pedigreed marque that is instantly recognizable as one of the most popular, reliable and exceptionally versatile all-terrain vehicle long before the H1 Hummer or those SUVs came along. What started out in 1948 as a British version of the World War II vintage Jeep from Willys has evolved into a fully-functional utility vehicle that respects no treacherous land surfaces, creating a world-wide following first in the military but soon extended into the farms and expeditions from the Antarctica to the safaris of Africa, the outbacks of Australia and the rainforests of South America.
Never tinker with a successful product. That's basically the philosophy behind the Land Rover successes over the years. Styling changes have been very minimal with the Defender smoothly evolving from the Land Rover 90, 110 and 127/130 of the 80s which had little to differ with from the Series III Land Rovers. But there were improvements such as a choice of 2.5-liter Diesel Turbo and a larger 3.2 V8 petrol engine, coil springs for a more comfy ride, permanent 4-wheel drive system taken from the Range Rover line, a more luxuriant interior but certainly not at par with those on the modern SUVs and lastly, a one-piece windscreen.
By the 1990s, there have been some marketing and branding changes in the Land Rover with the release of the Discovery Model that pioneered the subsequent naming convention of newer models. No longer would it be an enhanced 110 or 130 but you now have the Landrover Defender.
Sporting the same 2.5-liter diesel engine but with improved turbo charging, direct injection and intercooling in the 200Tdi, the Defender was able to cruise comfortably at higher speeds with 111 BHP power. Throughout the 90s, it became inevitable for Land Rover to produce wheelbase length variants under the Defender name and promptly came out with the Defender 90, Defender 110 and Defender 130 to distinguish each other. The Land Rover Station Wagon model using the 110 and 130 wheelbase became quite popular until today.

Peugeot 107 love for the city dates back to the Spring of 2005, though it is more than happy to take the motorway out of town... With more than 322,000 units produced (to the end of September 2008) and owners among the best ambassadors of its numerous qualities, the Peugeot 107 provides an efficient and clever response to the needs of urban mobility and does so with a smile on its face.
The Peugeot 107 is attractive
Its fun-and-youthful appearance, multiple body colours and cute-shaped headlamps light up the road as well as the lives of its customers. For these customers, style counts for much in their choice of car and still remains a strong decisive factor.
The Peugeot 107 offers key benefits
Its handling and low running costs, important and distinctive criteria of choice in its segment, together with its stylish appearance and affordable purchase price, result in a user satisfaction level way above the market average.
The Peugeot 107 expresses youthfulness
Like most vehicles in this category it is purchased as a second or third car in the family, the 107 stands out from the competition particularly by the prevalence of owners who are females in its customer base (69%, a quarter of them under the age of 35), a higher proportion of single people living with their parents and a lower proportion of retired people.

Now that the main hype over the new Fiat 500 has died down, it's time to be fashionably late; visit a car dealer and buy one. It has become ridiculously popular in the short space of time since its release, and even the jet set have taken it under their wing. It is undeniably cute and cool at the same time and makes the perfect city car for any generation. Older drivers favour its classic charm and the trendier buyer can opt for a funkier version if they wish.
Fiat has recently released a pink version to their car dealers, which of course has attracted the younger female buyer. Many teenage girls wanting a first car have hankered over this model, as it is not only pink on the outside but it has a pink dashboard and pink accessories throughout. It's the ultimate 'Daddy's little princess' car and was a smart move from Fiat.

Sticking to the road is made easier with the combination of active suspension management with adaptive air suspension and dynamic chassis control to keep the 76 inch wide vehicle sticking to the road better and enabling higher cornering speeds. Using the Sports button allows you to select whether you want either comfort or a more sports orientated performance. Using this button alters the engine mapping to give a shaper and much more direct response. The sports button also connects with the above suspension and chassis controls to deliver harder damping and more direct steering.
All forms of the Porsche Panamera also come with active aerodynamics in the form of a rear wing spoiler. When the Panamera is stopped or is driving at low speed, the rear spoiler sits flat under the rear window, keeping a pure aerodynamic form. In fact is you was not aware of this, you would not assume that it had a spoiler. When the car gets up to speed, the spoiler automatically lifts up out of it's compartment and continues to raise or lower depending on the speed being done.

Porsche have been one of the front runners for two door sports car production for over 60 years, and in recent years they have also looked into other target markets. Their first foray was into the 4 wheel drive market with the coveted Porsche Cayenne, which has proved a huge success sales wise. The Cayenne launched in December of 2002 and immediately started selling well. I had to look twice at the badging of a 4 wheel drive some years ago, as a Porsche badged 4 wheel drive looked oddly out of place for me having only seen the badging on cars such as the 911 or the Boxster.
The 4 door sedan base model weighs in at 1770 kilograms and comes at a price tag of US $89,000 meaning that only the very well heeled will be able to afford parking one in their garage. The car, as you would imagine, is feature packed from the PDK dual clutch gearbox that allows you to either use the gear stick, change from the steering wheel, or let the car change itself.

Now, before someone adds a comment of the sort "in other related news, Audi unveiled the new A6", let us make it clear that we're not reporting on the actual Car of the Year (COTY) 2011 results, which were announced in late November 2010, but on the special ceremony that took place at the Pavillion Gabriel in Paris earlier this week to hand over the trophy to this year's winner, the new Nissan Leaf.
The trophy was received by Nissan Motor Co.'s President and CEO Carlos Ghosn, who of course, was extremely happy with the results.
"It is a great honor for Nissan LEAF to be recognized as the European Car of the Year - the first all-electric car to receive this distinction, " said Mr. Ghosn. "Like previous Car of the Year winners, Nissan LEAF is an appealing, competitive car, with no compromise on style, features, safety, performance or handling. Yet it stands apart as an innovative car that reflects a clear vision of the future of transportation - a vision of sustainable mobility."

Soave has been with the North American Volkswagen team for several years, but Fiat recently hired her to take control of the brand in the United States. She is a first-generation Italian-American with a lot of her family still in Italy. She commented, "This is not just a job for me, it is a passion and very near and dear to my heart." She showed a photo on the large screen, of her as a small girl standing on the hood of a Fiat back in Italy.
The Chrysler Fiat alliance has helped Chrysler exit bankruptcy in 2009 and the new partnership was hoped to lead to making and selling small and fuel-efficient cars all over the world. The impact on Chrysler which depended largely on Jeeps, pickups and minivans was significant. Small Fiats would be sold at Chrysler dealers, but adjustments had to be made in order to adapt the cars to the emissions and safety requirements in the United States. Fiat based compact cars were initially scheduled for 2012, but they were moved earlier to the last quarter of 2011. They are meant to fill the small car gap in Chrysler's line.

In the USA economical turbo-diesels like the V6 BlueTDI more than any present day powertrain technology can help in reducing oil consumption and the generation of climate-impacting greenhouse gases. Volkswagen will offer the Touareg with the SCR catalytic converter starting 2008 first in the US as part of its BlueTec alliance with DaimlerChrysler and Audi. The BlueTec alliance was started by the three carmakers last year.
The acceleration of the Touareg is ample with a 0 mph to 60 mph time of 8.3 seconds. The top speed of the vehicle is electronically limited to 127 miles per hour.

Volkswagen's Touareg has one of the cleanest diesel engines in the world. Its BlueTDI engine with SCR catalytic converter reduces nitrogen dioxide (NOx) emissions by up to 90 percent. Touareg BlueTDI delivers 165kW/225 PS and meets even the strictest "Tier2 Bin5" exhaust emissions standards implemented in the US states particularly in California, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, and Maine.
The Turbo Direct Injection engine is a 24 valve, 6 cylinder engine. The design of the engine has the valves at 90 degrees. This engine features continuous cam shaft adjustment and a dual overhead cam configuration. This engine is built with an 83 mm bore and a 91.4 mm stroke. The compression ratio is measured at 16.8 to 1. The maximum horsepower of this engine is 225, delivered at a range of 3,500 rpm to 4,000 rpm. The torque, 406 foot pounds maximum, is found in the range of 1,750 rpm to 2,350 rpm. This engine runs on ultra low sulfur diesel. The engine management is done by Bosch's EDC17 system.
The Toureg zips along at an electronically limited 127 mph and has an acceleration from 0 mph to 60 mph of 8.7 seconds.

So now Audi has created a lightweight version of their flagship coupe the R8 and are calling it the R8 GT. This car weighs 1525kgs compared to the R8 V8 4.2 which weighs in at 1625kgs. As if hearing about a 100kg weight loss in an a car already made from the already light aluminium alloy isn't enough Audi has mentioned that this car comes with the V10 engine used in the, very obviously named R8 V10. So we have extra power coupled to the weight loss.
The R8 V10 road car wasn't exactly a new design idea by Audi. In fact, the R8 was nearly a decade old by the time Audi decided it should be produced for basic road ownership. There were two models of Audi R8 built in 1999 for the 24-hour Le Mans, the R8R and R8C. There was also the Audi R8 racecar built in 2000, and there's an Audi R8 Le Mans Concept 12-cylinder diesel in the works.

Audi R8 will be perfect model to utilize the high power generated
0 comments Posted by SAPU JAGAT at 2:50 AMLike most performance car manufacturers these days, losing those extra kilos in their flagship coupe showcases their abilities to build a more serious out and out coupe than the base model, which has to cater to a wider audience and is still built to a certain budgeted cost. Manufacturers like Porsche have long known this and you can see in their 911 series of cars. You have the basic Carerra which becomes the Carerra S, which then morphs into the GT3, which then becomes the GT3 RS. Each model slightly more performance oriented than the one before up to a point where it goes pretty extreme and lots of weight loss is the key to increased performance.
Audi, as part of the Volkswagen Group, wasn't always known for their sports cars. Most Audis are sleek, stylish and fast, but they never really stacked up against legitimate sports cars like models from Ferrari and Porsche. All of this changed in 2006 with Audi's introduction of the R8 V10 road car.

This car used the first ever 'Sport Chrono Package Turbo', which is optional extra. This automatically determines the best distribution of torque in order to get the most appropriate drive given the road conditions. With the Porsche Traction Management, it is possible to give a variable distribution of power to the drive axles. The Porsche 911 Turbo can therefore exhibit good traction in different road and weather conditions. This combination makes the car very safe even at high speeds whether the road is wide or narrow.
Both Black Editions are painted in plain black as standard, with Basalt Black metallic available as an option, while the folding hood of the Cabriolet model is trimmed in black cloth. Other styling highlights include the 19-inch 911 Turbo II forged alloy wheels with a glossy black trim and the black-finished, four-piston aluminium monobloc fixed brake callipers.
Inside, the driver and passenger are first greeted by the black lettering on the stainless steel door entry guards. The cars also get a black leather interior, a SportDesign steering wheel and a numbered plaque on the glove compartment lid, while the decorative fascia strip, gear lever and air vents are all finished in aluminium-look paint. Finally, the rear center console is painted in the exterior color.
